IMPORTANT: new sign-in procedures at E.J.
Those of you who attended K-3 Plus over the summer are aware of our new sign in procedures using the Raptor system installed by Santa Fe Public Schools during the summer months. Everyone else, please read about the new drop-off, pick-up and entrance procedures below. This is a new security system aimed at protecting all school staff and most importantly, your children. The staff at E.J. appreciate your cooperation in helping make our school safer!
ALL doors to the school will be locked at all times, including the doors by the large parking lot. The only door that will be unlocked at 7:30am is the door to the outside at the office. The second set of doors that enter the school will remain locked.
Drop-off: If you drop your child off in the drop-off/pick-up lane, they will be let into the school building by a staff member using a key card. If you wish to walk in with your child, please park in a parking spot and walk them to the office and follow the next steps listed below.
Any visitor wishing to enter the building at any time must do so by way of the office. In order to be granted entrance, you MUST have your driver’s license or state issued ID scanned by office staff. NO EXCEPTIONS. Your information will be run through a sex offender database and will also show if there are any guardian alerts. Once you have been cleared to enter, you will be given a sticker badge with your picture that you must wear on your upper body where it is clearly visible to all staff. If it is not visible, you will be asked to show it and place it in the most appropriate spot. Please do not hold the sticker badge in your hand. It must be on your clothing.
If you would like to come into the building with your child before school starts, you may only stay until the first bell rings at 7:50am. When the first bell rings, you need to return to the office to sign out. No visitor is allowed to remain in the building after 7:50am unless they have a scheduled meeting.
After school, the door at the drop-off area will remain locked as well. Again, if you need to enter the building, please go to the office to sign in using the Raptor system.
SFPS Relaxes District Dress Code
Santa Fe Public Schools announced the week of June 4th that they will be relaxing the district dress code. The district will revisit this dress code around week 9 of the 2018-2019 school year to see how well it is working.
What does this mean for your K-6th grade child? Please see the official new dress code below.
Keep in mind that there is still a standard code for allowable clothing. Tank tops, sleeveless shirts without an undershirt and spaghetti strap/camisoles are not allowable shirts. Shorts and skirts still need to follow the length rule. Shorts and skirts need to be a minimum length measured by having hands at side and to the tip of the middle finger.
Be sure to check out the PTA News page! Many fun and exciting events are coming to E.J. Don't miss out!!
“Think about how much better this world would be if people would just smile at each other more often...You don't have to talk; you don't have to agree on anything; all you have to do is smile! Smiling breaks barriers; it eases tension, and it's the first step to making a new friend.”
