I hope you all had a wonderful summer. For students, I hope they are relaxed, recharged and ready to start a new school year. I am so delighted to be a part of our amazing EJ Martinez learning community. I welcome and value your positive energy and dedication to our school and look forward to working with you and your child(ren) this school year.
There have been many staff changes and I believe that we are going to experience an incredible and productive school year. We have skilled and devoted staff who have been planning and preparing daily to meet the academic and social needs for your child(ren). Our office team is registering new families, ordering needed materials and updating student files. Our hard working and conscientious custodians have spent the entire summer thoroughly cleaning the facility and have done an excellent job doing so. Our much-appreciated and invaluable PTA is gearing up to welcome families, provide volunteer opportunities, and offer other exciting events and programs and opportunities to participate and have an active voice on PTA. I want to publicly thank EJ PTA for supplying food on our Welcome Back Night, burgers and hotdogs were amazing. I would also like to thank the wonderful community volunteers from St. Johns who helped serve and gave away backpacks to those who still needed one. We are indeed a happy and caring community with the common goals of nurturing responsible, caring students and promoting a high-level of learning.
Each year brings positive change. This year for us this includes a few additions to our staff. We are delighted to welcome Mary Yamada, our new pre-k teacher, Juliana Valdez and Kevin Cyr, new first grade teachers, Carolynn Brown and Vanessa Villanueva, new second grade teachers, Shirlee Cole, new third grade teacher, Jeanette Castaneda, new fifth grade teacher, Vanessa Arias, new sixth grade teacher, Levita Morados and Molly Mysliwiec, new special education teachers, Melissa Henry, new art teacher and in a new position Cindy Geyer, new interventionist.
