Please assure that your student arrives with exercise shoes on their PE day. My #1 goal is safe movement, so students need to arrive in PE with shoes that are safe for running and kicking a ball. Please no sandals, boots, heels or flip flops on their PE day!
If they don’t wear PE shoes, students can’t fully participate and it will be reflected in their grade. Thank you for understanding! Ms. Stacia
In the 6th grade we have been working hard on getting back into the routine of school! We are learning the importance of organization and taking responsibility, two things that will come in handy in middle school next year!
One really exciting thing is that we have been studying Ancient Civilizations in Social Studies, and had the opportunity to take a field trip out to Bandelier National Monument! We got to explore the ruins and the caves, and learned a lot about the culture that used to live there!
We are also about to start planning for the 6th grade Haunted House for the Halloween Carnival, so that is another thing we are all looking forward to!
Dear E.J. Families!
Dear EJ Families, Here are some updates from the Health Office!
STREP THROAT: we have had + cases of strep already. Strep throat is VERY CONTAGIOUS. Some ways to prevent spread are: avoid sharing utensils, water bottles, etc., instruct students to cover their sneezes/coughs and then wash hands immediately. If your child has had an intense sore throat, swollen tonsils, fever, and/or red/white patches in the back of their throat, it is important to get tested by your physician. If positive, students must stay out of school for AT LEAST 24 hours after starting antibiotics or until the physician says it's OK to return to school.
6th GRADERS: there are booster vaccines needed prior to attending middle school next year. Please ask your physician when those shots need to be given.
HEARING/VISION: screening scheduled for October 30 for PreK, Kindergarten, 1st and 3rd
FLU SHOTS: we will have a flu clinic @ school sometime in October for students. But, if you and your family members can get the shot through your local retailers, community partners, or physicians PLEASE DO! We sometimes run out of the vaccine and don't have enough for everyone.
MEDICATION: I need doctor's orders for all prescription medications including inhalers. I cannot administer any medications without doctor's orders. Please see me if needed.
Thank YOU for keeping our students happy and healthy! Nurse Laarni
Parking Lot Procedures: Please read and familiarize yourself with the following procedures for use of the parking lot during drop-off and pick-up. These procedures have always been in place but we wanted to make sure our families were aware of them so everyone can help make this time safer.
Enter the parking lot on the right side.
PULL FORWARD- DO NOT STOP IN THE CROSSWALK.
Pull as far forward as you can into the drop-off/pick-up lane by the green curb.
DO NOT PARK your car and GET OUT OF IT while in the loading and unloading zone.
At NO time should you park along the fence across from the green curb (drop-off/pick-up lane).
The area that says NO PARKING is for circling around the parking lot ONLY. Parking here stops the flow of traffic and is not allowed.
Snacks and Lunches Healthy snacks and lunches help your children get through the day much easier. It also teaches them to make healthy food choices in the future. Please help them by sending nutritious snacks and lunches with such things as fruits or vegetables. *For snacks and lunch, please limit the amount of sugary food. Not allowed at school: candy, coffee, soda, tea, power and sports drinks
Thank you for helping make your child’s day more successful!
