The sixth grade has been writing poetry in Art class. Joan Logghe, a local poet, came into our classes as a Visiting Artist to inspire and inform our students about the structure of poetry so that they could appreciate the Poetry Reading which they attended at the New Mexico History Museum. The two poets who read at this event were Luci Tapahonso, inaugural poet laureate of the Navajo Nation and Aaron Abeyta, a National Book Award winner. I will be including poems in the next few Newsletters that our students have written with Joan and myself.

Dear E.J. Families!
It is almost the end of the year families! Here is some information from the health office:
6th GRADE: letters went out regarding required vaccinations for entry into middle school (7th grade). If you are unsure if your student is up to date, please email me and I can check for you on the NM Dept of Health website. Vaccines should be obtained with your pediatrician or participating local clinics.
MEDICATIONS: letters will go out to families for all students who have medications in the health office. The medications cannot stay in the school over the summer. The letter will give you options on when to pick up medication.
Thank you for keeping our students happy and healthy! Nurse Laarni
Parking Lot Procedures: Please read and familiarize yourself with the following procedures for use of the parking lot during drop-off and pick-up. These procedures have always been in place but we wanted to make sure our families were aware of them so everyone can help make this time safer.
Enter the parking lot on the right side.
PULL FORWARD- DO NOT STOP IN THE CROSSWALK.
Pull as far forward as you can into the drop-off/pick-up lane by the green curb.
DO NOT PARK your car and GET OUT OF IT while in the loading and unloading zone.
At NO time should you park along the fence across from the green curb (drop-off/pick-up lane).
The area that says NO PARKING is for circling around the parking lot ONLY. Parking here stops the flow of traffic and is not allowed.
Snacks and Lunches Healthy snacks and lunches help your children get through the day much easier. It also teaches them to make healthy food choices in the future. Please help them by sending nutritious snacks and lunches with such things as fruits or vegetables. *For snacks and lunch, please limit the amount of sugary food. Not allowed at school: candy, coffee, soda, tea, power and sports drinks
Thank you for helping make your child’s day more successful!
