Sixth grade has come to an awesome close for the end of this 2017-2018 year! We fit in so many fun projects, field trips, and lots of exciting learning! The end of the year has been awesome with field trip to Cliff’s amusement Park in Albuquerque and all of the chicks hatching.
Our promotion is on Tuesday, May 22 at 10 AM in the gym. We are very sad to see this class go, but are so excited to see what the future holds! We have students going to middle schools is all over the city, including Milagro Middle School, St Michael’s High School, Santa Fe Prep, Gonzales, Mandela, ATC, and Monte del Sol. We know that all of our sixth grade graduates will do amazing things with their futures, as long as they stick to what they believe and try their best. Good luck to the EJ Martinez class of 2018!
Dear E.J. Families!
We are approaching the end of the year. Students who have medications in the health office will receive a form this week, which needs to be returned ASAP. The form relates to how you want your medications transported by the end of the year. Any medications after the last day of school will be discarded.
Thank you for keeping our students happy and healthy!
The Art of Poetry Update
Our sixth graders participated in a poetry writing project in Art Class with Joan Logghe, a former Santa Fe Poet Laureate, earlier in the year. This was sponsored by Artworks, a local non-profit organization in Santa Fe. Five of our sixth graders had their poetry chosen to be published in the Artworks Poetry Anthology by the Artworks Committee. These students are:
Gabbi Juliana Aiyana Braeden Marco
Copies of the published Poetry Anthology will be given to the students before the end of the school year.
Congratulations to all our sixth graders! Well done!
Deborah Hawthorne (Art Teacher)
Parking Lot Procedures: Please read and familiarize yourself with the following procedures for use of the parking lot during drop-off and pick-up. These procedures have always been in place but we wanted to make sure our families were aware of them so everyone can help make this time safer.
Enter the parking lot on the right side.
PULL FORWARD- DO NOT STOP IN THE CROSSWALK.
Pull as far forward as you can into the drop-off/pick-up lane by the green curb.
DO NOT PARK your car and GET OUT OF IT while in the loading and unloading zone.
At NO time should you park along the fence across from the green curb (drop-off/pick-up lane).
The area that says NO PARKING is for circling around the parking lot ONLY. Parking here stops the flow of traffic and is not allowed.
Parents and Guardians,
If you are late to pick up your children after school, you will need to come to the front entrance where the office is to get your child. We will not release your children to walk out into the parking lot. You must come into the building to get them.
Thank you for your continued cooperation in helping keep our Vikings safe!
Snacks and Lunches Healthy snacks and lunches help your children get through the day much easier. It also teaches them to make healthy food choices in the future. Please help them by sending nutritious snacks and lunches with such things as fruits or vegetables. *For snacks and lunch, please limit the amount of sugary food. Not allowed at school: candy, coffee, soda, tea, power and sports drinks
Thank you for helping make your child’s day more successful!
